What is the Telemetry Uplift Program?
The Telemetry Uplift Program provides free telemetry devices to eligible water meter owners so readings can be automatically sent to mywater.
The mywater portal is the fastest way for South Australian water users to manage licences, permits, and trade water.
Telemetry helps water users save time, reduce manual reading effort and access accurate water-use information.
How the telemetry device works
A telemetry device electronically records water passing through your existing meter and sends the information to mywater. If you have a mywater account, you will be able to log in and see your meter reading and water usage.
A typical installation includes:
• a pole-mounted internet device installed near your meter
• a replaceable battery in the device with an expected life of more than 10 years
• for the first 12 months, the department will monitor, test and maintain the installation to make sure everything is working accurately.
Once installed:
• meter readings are automatically sent to mywater
• This means your quarterly meter reading, taken on the 14th day of the relevant month, will be automatically lodged and there is nothing for you to do.
• you can still take manual reads at any time if you want to compare or check your data
