Significant Environmental Benefits (Offsets)

What is a Significant Environmental Benefit?

A Significant Environmental Benefit (SEB) is an action that results in a positive environmental impact over and above the negative impact of an activity, like clearance, and stops an overall decline in biodiversity across South Australia.

Achieving an SEB may be required to offset the impact of clearing native vegetation.

An SEB can be achieved by protecting and managing an area of existing degraded vegetation and/or revegetation to improve its condition.

The details are set out in the:

and the

You can also achieve an SEB on your property that is in excess of any clearance offset requirement and the Native Vegetation Council may approve the benefit to the environment as “SEB credit”.
