DEW soils team - about us

About the team

The DEW Soil Team consists of scientists and experts who oversee the scientific monitoring, data management, and strategic policy development of the state’s soil and land resources. This work aims to promote the sustainable use of South Australia's soil and land resources, whilst enhancing soil productivity and resilience against climate change.

Our role includes:

  • managing the State Soil and Land Information Framework, including publicly available data and soil mapping products
  • monitoring and reporting on soil health and land condition in South Australia
  • supporting the National Soil Action Plan 2023–2028 and the South Australian Soils Collaboration Centre (SCC)
  • provide advice and regulatory support for government decision-making.
  • capacity building through collaborations with various government departments (e.g. PIRSA and Landscape Boards) and research institutions.
