The Net Zero Futures Policy Forum is an international partnership of governments committed to addressing the practical challenges of achieving net zero emissions.

We focus on practical collaboration, knowledge-sharing and immediate actions that can help governments shape the best global net zero policy solutions.

The Forum is co-chaired by New South Wales (Australia) and Scotland (United Kingdom), with South Australia the secretariat. Forum membership is free and open to any state, regional, or other interested governments.

Enabling knowledge-sharing

As the world races to reach net zero, governments can move faster by sharing their practical policy experiences with each other. Learning from what has and hasn’t worked in other jurisdictions will help us to lead the transition to net zero at the speed and scale the world needs.

The Forum runs online Learn, Engage and Discuss (LEAD) sessions that provide members with the opportunity to share knowledge and gain insights on priority policy topics.

We also offer an online platform where Forum participants can find and share news, publications and perspectives – facilitating easy access to knowledge and peer learnings across the wider Forum community.

Building collaboration through action

Forum members have the option to join taskforces, working groups or communities of practice to unpack shared policy challenges with other governments. Each group is made up of subject-matter experts who decide on the scope of the group.

Expanding global networks

Our vision is to create a truly international space, where governments can support each other and engage in policy discussion related to net zero.

The Forum’s main strength lies in the diverse perspectives and experiences our members contribute. Expanding our membership will help all members benefit from exposure to a wide range of policy ideas at the forefront of global emissions-reduction efforts.
