Carolyn is a Technical Officer with specialist skills in the area of phycology (algae). She was trained by and worked with Prof. H.B.S. Womersley for over 20 years assisting him in the production of the marine benthic flora of southern Australia. Thus she has skills in preparation and examination of algae, usually microscopically, to enable identification or description. The laboratories are equipped with a benchtop scanning electron microscope and several dissecting and compound microscopes with imaging capability with which Carolyn can provide assistance.

Carolyn’s current interests are in maintaining the integrity of, and expanding, the significant collection of algae held at the State Herbarium. She provides technical support to colleagues, visitors and students.
