Ainsley is a mistletoe biologist with interests in the origins and evolution of the Australian showy mistletoes, the Loranthaceae. He has diverse research interests in parasitic plants from taxonomy and systematics to anatomy, ecophysiology and host specificity. His research interests also include the development of effective data management systems and science communication. He is currently involved in the redevelopment of the State Herbarium’s specimen database.
