Significant Environmental Benefit (SEB) Grants

SEB grants are offered by the Native Vegetation Council for projects that increase protection and improve the condition of native vegetation. The grants are funded through money paid by people who are required to offset the loss of clearance approved in accordance with the Native Vegetation Act 1991 or Regulations 2017.

Some grant funding rounds are for specific restoration activities or specific regions of the state. Check the Guidelines for each grant round for specific details of the focus region or activities.

SEB grant applications are assessed on the principles and objectives for establishing a SEB area which are outlined in the Policy for Significant Environmental Benefit, as well as any grant specific outcomes. In addition, investment should be effective for the long term and projects should demonstrate how you plan to maintain the project into the future.

What has been funded to date?

Since its introduction in 2009, the Native Vegetation Council has committed $16.9 million in support of 74 critical projects across the eight Landscape regions through Significant Environmental Benefit Grants. For a list of all the projects supported through SEB grants, you can view the SEB Grant Summary.
