Bushfire risk and recovery

The department works in partnership with the community, other land managers and fire agencies to tackle the risk of bushfire and ensure the primary objectives of the Code of Practice for fire management on public lands in South Australia are met.

Together with CFS, SA Water, ForestrySA and other partners, the department undertakes fire management across more than 18 million hectares of public land on behalf of all South Australians.

The department is actively reducing the risk of bushfire on public land to safeguard the things people care about in the areas where they live. This involves land management activities such as planning, slashing, mowing, clearing, planned burning and land recovery.
