Understanding wastewater system requirements

In order to gain longer tenure for a Crown land or national park shack, lessees must comply with contemporary safety, amenity and environmental standards. This includes having a compliant wastewater system installed at each shack site and a commitment to ongoing maintenance of these systems, which will be outlined in the lessee’s lease agreement.

The following information sheet will help lessees understand and work through the process of selecting, seeking approvals and installing a compliant wastewater system:
