2026 SA Climate Leaders Awards

The Premier’s Climate Change Council invites nominations for the 2026 SA Climate Leaders Awards. These awards recognise outstanding South Australian leadership and practical action in tackling climate challenges.

The overall award winner receives $10,000 to support further climate change-related action.

How to apply

  2. Choose the most relevant award category.
  3. Review the 2026 SA Climate Leaders Awards Guidelines.
  4. Submit your entry via the online entry form.

Entries close 5pm on Friday 5 June 2026.

Who can apply

Entries are welcome from individuals, teams and organisations, including:

  • businesses of all sizes
  • industry peak organisations
  • not-for-profit organisations, community groups, clubs and associations
  • schools, preschools and early childhood centres
  • tertiary institutes, universities and research organisations
  • local councils and state government agencies, boards and committees
  • regional level networks, alliances and partnerships
  • Aboriginal peoples and Traditional Custodians.

Award eligibility 

The Awards recognise projects and activities that demonstrate:

  • leadership and innovation
  • collaboration
  • significant achievements that tackle the challenges of a changing climate.

Eligible entries must contribute to one or more of the following:

  • managing climate change risks, building climate resilience or supporting climate adaptation
  • reducing net greenhouse gas emissions
  • climate change research or education
  • raising awareness of the changing climate and climate solutions.

Projects or activities should have been initiated or completed after April 2024.

Previous award winners may reapply only if they can demonstrate significantly different or additional outcomes in the same category.

Award categories

Applicants can enter one category from the following:

  • Business and Industry – Small to Medium Enterprises
  • Business and Industry – Large Enterprises
  • Research and Education
  • Community
  • Government.

Examples of eligible projects

Business and industry 

You could be:

  • leading sector-wide action to support climate adaptation or emissions reduction
  • embedding best practice climate risk management or low-emissions solutions
  • redesigning operations or supply chains to reduce emissions or climate risk
  • collaborating with communities to address local climate challenges
  • developing climate-smart technology, tools or services in South Australia.

Research and education

You could be:

  • delivering innovative research, technology or tools
  • educating or building capacity within an industry, school or community
  • raising awareness and supporting behaviour change
  • supporting communities, including vulnerable groups, to build climate resilience.

Community

You could be:

  • delivering a local or grassroots climate action project
  • building community awareness, skills or capacity to act
  • supporting vulnerable community members to respond to climate impacts
  • leading initiatives such as community energy, urban greening or waste reduction.

Government

You could be:

  • leading innovative or best‑practice climate responses within government
  • working with communities to build climate resilience
  • driving change across your agency or government to manage climate risk and reduce emissions.
