Applying for an animal welfare research and teaching licence

Make sure you read and comply with the Australian code for the care and use of animals for scientific purposes 8th edition (2013) (the Code) in all respects. Failure to comply with the requirements of the Code is a breach of licence conditions. If the breach results in an animal suffering, the offender may be prosecuted for ill treatment which incurs a higher penalty.

You must also make sure you have read and comply with any other Codes of practice for animal welfare and Codes of practice for the humane destruction of wildlife pertinent to the activities you will be performing.

The cost for a Licence is $90 from 1 July 2023.
