This project involves the review of existing and emerging scientific knowledge that will be translated into tools and products, such as models, to inform and optimise management of the Coorong.

Improved nutrient processes and ecological response models will be developed using new information gained from the nutrient dynamics, algae and aquatic plant response, food web and water bird research projects.

Collectively, this work will provide direct support for evidence-based decision-making in the Coorong and will be based on an improved ability to simulate and evaluate hydrodynamic, water quality and ecological changes under different management scenarios.

This work is critical to building a clear understanding of the current state of the Coorong, and identifying the key ecological processes and drivers that can be managed to help achieve a more desired ecological state.
