Date posted: 11 Apr. 2025
Prescribed burns are planned at SA Water’s Myponga Reservoir Reserve on Monday, weather conditions permitting.
- Two prescribed burns will occur at the eastern end of the reserve on 14 April 2025.
- One burn will commence at 10.30am near Sinclair Road, where 3 hectares will be burnt. This burn will likely be completed by 11.30am the same day.
A second burn will commence at 12pm near Barclay Road, where 1.5 hectares will be burnt. This burn will likely be completed by 2pm the same day. - These burns will remove weeds infesting a creek line to improve water quality and support planned restoration works in adjacent paddocks.
- No roads or trails will be closed throughout the burn.
- Smoke may be visible from Main South Road, Pages Flat Road and the Myponga township.
- National Parks and Wildlife Service crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
