Prescribed burn at Warren Conservation Park

A prescribed burn is planned at Warren Conservation Park, 4km south of Williamstown, on Sunday, October 5, weather conditions permitting.
- The prescribed burn, including Tower Hill Native Forest Reserve and Warren Reservoir Reserve, will start at 2pm and is likely to be completed by 8pm. Flames and smoke may be visible within the burn area for several days.
- The area to be burnt is 99.2 hectares.
- This is a landscape protection burn.
- The Heysen Trail in Warren Conservation Park will be closed from 12pm on Sunday until 10am on Monday. National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWS conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity.
Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land. Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
