Prescribed burn at Spring Mount Conservation Park
Date posted: 10 Oct. 2025
A prescribed burn is planned at Spring Mount Conservation Park on the Fleurieu Peninsula on Monday and Tuesday, weather conditions permitting.
The prescribed burn will start at 1.30pm October 13 and is likely to be completed by 6pm October 14.
- The area to be burnt is 24.3 hectares within the park, which is about 7 kilometres south east of Myponga.
- Flames and smoke may be visible within the burn area for several days.
- This is a landscape protection burn to reduce the likelihood of the whole park burning in a single event.
- No roads or walking trails will be closed throughout the burn.
- Mount Alma Road may be impacted by smoke. National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWS conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity.
Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land. Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
