Prescribed burn at Scott Creek

Date posted: 09 May 2025

A prescribed burn is planned on private land at Scott Creek on Sunday, weather conditions permitting.

The burn will start at 10.30am on Sunday 11 May and is likely to be completed by 5.00pm that evening.

• The area to be burnt is 7 hectares.

• The planned burn will occur across two private properties on Illunga Drive.

• The burn is to reduce the extreme bushfire risk posed to life, property and natural values in the area and surrounds.

• Ilunga Drive may be impacted by smoke.

• National Parks and Wildlife Service crews will remain on site until safe.

NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.

Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
