Prescribed burn at Mount Bold Reservoir Reserve

Date posted: 02 May 2025

A prescribed burn, the second in a series, is planned in the northeast section of the Mount Bold Reservoir Reserve on Monday 5 May 2025, weather conditions permitting.

The burn will start at 12.00pm on Monday and is likely to be completed by 5.00pm that evening.

• The area to be burnt is 11 hectares.

• The burn is to reduce the risks of bushfire to the adjacent community, and to revitalise woodland that supports the nationally threatened chestnut-rumped heath wren and southern brown bandicoot.

• Smoke may be visible during and for several days after the burn.

• A Boundary Track used by SA Water will be impacted by smoke.

• National Parks and Wildlife Service crews will remain on site until safe.

NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.

Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
