Prescribed burn at Mount Bold
Date posted: 08 Oct. 2025
A prescribed burn is planned at SA Water’s Mount Bold Reservoir Reserve in the Mount Lofty Ranges on Thursday, weather conditions permitting.
- The prescribed burn will start at 12pm October 9, 2025 and is likely to be completed by 6pm the same day.
- The area to be burnt is 29.2 hectares in the south east section of the reserve, about 7 kilometres north east of Kangarilla.
- Flames and smoke may be visible within the burn area for several days
- .This burn will reduce fuel loads to limit the spread of fire in the event of a bushfire impacting the reserve.
- This is the first of a series of prescribed burns aimed to mitigate the impact of bushfire on the surrounding townships of Jupiter Creek and Echunga.
- No roads or tracks will be closed throughout the burn.
National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWS conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity.
Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land. Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
