Prescribed burn at Kangaroo Creek Reservoir

A prescribed burn is planned at Kangaroo Creek Reservoir in the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges region on Thursday, 24 September, weather conditions permitting.

The prescribed burn will start at 4:30pm and is likely to be completed by 8:00pm. Flames and smoke may be visible within the burn area for several days.

  • The area to be burnt is 3 hectares on track 53.
  • This is a landscape protection burn aimed at reducing fuel hazards along Gorge Road and adjacent communities at Cuddle Creek.
  • Smoke may be visible from Prairie Road and Gorge Road during and after the burn.

National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) crews will remain on site until safe.

NPWS conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity.

Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.

Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
