Prescribed burn at Basket Range
Date posted: 05 Dec. 2025
A prescribed burn is planned at Basket Range in the Mount Lofty Ranges on Monday 8 December, weather conditions permitting.
- The prescribed burn will start at 11.30am Monday December 8 and is likely to be completed by 5pm the same day.
- The area to be burnt is 1.5 hectares on private land east of Range Road, between Uraidla and Ashton.
- The objective of the burn is to reduce fuel loads to limit the risk of bushfires impacting Basket Range and the surrounding area.
- No roads or trails are planned to be closed during the burn.
- Smoke may be visible in the area.
National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWS conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity.
Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
