The Granite Island Recreation Park will close at night between Friday 25 November and Wednesday 30 November.

It is the 22nd year of partial closures, which will be in place from 8pm to 5.30am, when large numbers of school leavers visit Victor Harbor.

National Parks and Wildlife Service District Ranger Paul Unsworth said the temporary closures were in place for public safety and to protect the wildlife on the island.

“The public can still visit Granite Island as normal during the day, from early in the morning through to 8pm,” Mr Unsworth said.

“We appreciate the community’s continued support during this time.”

While the island will be closed to the general public, the closure will not apply to anyone fishing on the causeway or screw pile jetty.
