Image and video use
The Department for Environment and Water aims to help South Australians conserve, sustain and prosper.
We manage SA’s national parks, botanic gardens and heritage places, and are an authority on the state’s environment and natural resources.
Our goals are to ensure a healthy resilient environment, improved liveability and wellbeing for our communities, and a prosperous South Australia for current and future generations.
We use various digital channels, including websites, social media and newsletters to promote the work we do and encourage South Australians to engage in that work.
We also use those channels to feature members of the public visiting and enjoying the areas of the environment we manage, from our national parks and reserves to our metropolitan beaches and heritage places.
We do this by inviting members of the public to submit photos and videos showcasing our environment, by posting them in comments on our Facebook page, direct messaging us on Facebook or Instagram or by emailing us.
We sometimes also contact content creators via their social media channels, seeking permission to use or re-share their photos or video, with their permission and with appropriate credit and attribution.
By posting your photos or videos on our pages, or by sending them to us directly, you give us irrevocable permission to use your content, free of charge, as described below, and you acknowledge and agree that:
- You are at least 18 years old
- You produced the photos or video yourself and therefore own the rights to the content.
You agree to let the Department for Environment and Water to re-share the content on its digital channels and in materials promoting SA’s parks, gardens, cultural and heritage places, plants, animals, and natural environment.
