Prescribed burn at Mt Bold Reservoir Reserve
Date posted: 29 Sep. 2026
A prescribed burn is planned at Mt Bold Reservoir Reserve in the Mt Lofty Ranges on Wednesday 30 September, weather conditions permitting. The prescribed burn will start at 11:00am and is likely to be completed by 6:00pm. Flames and smoke may be visible within the burn area for several days.
- The area to be burnt is 88.6 hectares in the northeastern section of the reserve.
- The burn is to reduce the risks of bushfire to the adjacent community of Mylor and secondly to revitalise some aging heathy woodland that supports the nationally threatened Chestnutrumped Heath Wren and Southern Brown Bandicoot.
- Nearby Todd Road will be impacted by smoke.
Publicly-accessible areas of Mount Bold Reservoir Reserve will remain open to visitors.
National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWS conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity.
Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
