Spring into SA’s oldest national park

Located 25 minutes from Adelaide's CBD, Belair National Park is South Australia's oldest national park with a rich history and an important role in protecting native plants and animals. 

The park remains one of the few relatively undisturbed areas of native vegetation in the Adelaide Hills and provides vital habitat for a diverse range of wildlife.

Belair is also home to two significant heritage attractions, including South Australia's oldest plant nursery – State Flora – and the historic Old Government House.

Senior Ranger Flynn Balshaw said Belair National Park offered something for everyone.

“It’s a fantastic place to connect with nature, whether you're looking for an active adventure, a family day out or simply somewhere to relax and unwind,” Mr Balshaw said.

“Visitors can enjoy kilometres of walking and mountain bike trails, spot native wildlife, explore our picturesque woodlands and lakes, or make use of the park's picnic and barbecue facilities.

“The park also offers a range of venues for hire, including ovals, tennis courts and pavilions, making it a popular destination for school sports, community events, weddings and corporate functions. It’s very popular, so we encourage people to plan ahead and book early to secure their preferred dates.”

Throughout September, NPWS will host a diverse program of events highlighting Belair's natural, cultural and historic values, including:

• Self-guided scenic e-bike ride
• Parkrun
• Forest bathing and wellness walk
• Old Government House guided tour
• Mobile cubby building
• Discover disc golf
• Cultural walk with a Kaurna elder
• Ranger-guided nature discovery walk
• Understanding Belair's koalas: research in action

Anyone who registers for a Park of the Month event will receive complimentary vehicle entry to the Belair National Park for the day of the registered event.
