Skip a second hunt this Easter and secure your camp spot now
South Australians are encouraged to book an Easter camping holiday soon to not miss out on a low-cost adventure in the state’s beautiful national parks and reserves.
Campsites in a number of ever-popular national parks like Dhilba Guuranda-Innes, Murray River and Mount Remarkable are filling up fast, but there are still spots available in other parks across the state, including:
- Coorong National Park
- Flinders Chase National Park
- Lincoln National Park
- Para Wirra Conservation Park
- Coffin Bay National Park
- Cape Gantheaume Conservation Park
Visitors are also encouraged to venture to the Fleurieu Peninsula and explore Deep Creek National Park, most of which is open after a bushfire in February burnt more than 4500 hectares in the region.
Visitors can also benefit from free vehicle access to five prominent coastal parks as part of a $1.2 million state government initiative. Vehicle entry fees to national parks are also waived with most campground bookings.
Department for Environment and Water Public Lands and Business Partnerships Director, Gary Joyce, said that – no matter if you were looking for off-grid relaxation, a beach escape or bushwalking adventures, there was a national park for you.
“Visiting or camping in our national parks is a fantastic and cost-effective way to enjoy nature this Easter,” Mr Joyce said.
“The landscapes in our parks range from native forests to beaches to deserts - some parks even have multiple terrains - present visitors with a nearly endless amount of opportunities.
“Make sure to go online soon and check availability so you don’t miss out on a wonderful holiday.”
Visitors are reminded to play their part in protecting the environment and local wildlife when staying in national parks by:
- Adhering to campfire rules and restrictions.
- Taking litter home as bins are not available.
- Sticking to speed limits and established roads or tracks to protect other visitors and wildlife.
For those seeking activities closer to Adelaide, sites including Cleland Wildlife Park and Adelaide Gaol will remain open all Easter long weekend.
There are a range of experiences available at Cleland, including the opportunity to meet a koala face to face while it is sitting on a perch.
Adelaide Gaol offers tours and escape cell experiences for kids and adults, providing an opportunity to use problem-solving skills and discover the history of the Gaol.
