Prescribed burn at Kenneth Stirling Conservation Park

Date posted: 14 Oct. 2026

A prescribed burn is planned at Kenneth Stirling Conservation Park in the Mt Lofty Ranges on Thursday, 15 October, weather conditions permitting. The prescribed burn will start at 12:30pm and is likely to be completed by 8:00pm. Flames and smoke may be visible within the burn area for several days.

  • The area to be burnt is 8.6 hectares in the northern side of the park.
  • This is a landscape protection burn.
  • No roads will be closed throughout the burn, however walking trails within the park will be monitored.
  • Gum Flat Road may be impacted by smoke.

National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) crews will remain on site until safe.

NPWS conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land. Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
