Prescribed burn at Ironbank
Date posted: 17 Apr. 2026
A prescribed burn is planned at Ironbank in the Adelaide Hills on Sunday, weather conditions permitting.
The prescribed burn will start at 12pm Sunday, 19 April 2026, and is likely to be completed by 6pm the same day. Flames and smoke may be visible within the burn area for several days.
- The area to be burnt is 2.7 hectares on private land on the southern side of Pole Road.
- This burn is part of a series of burns aiming to reduce the risk of bushfire impacts to the community of Ironbank and the dwellings along Pole Road.
- No roads or walking tracks will be closed throughout the burn.
- Smoke will be visible in the area around Pole Road.
National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWS conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity.
Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
