Beachcombing bingo teaches families about local marine life

Natural Resources Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges (AMLR) recently ran three beachcombing bingo sessions to engage young children over the school holidays.

Junior Coastal Ambassadors together with their carers rugged up and combed Adelaide’s local beaches for washed up treasures.

The children had to find treasures which matched with descriptive categories detailed on a bingo card. Once all of the items were found the children called out ‘bingo!’

The items were then sorted into their relevant category and the children were given the opportunity to ask questions and discuss their findings.

The sessions were interactive, fun, and proved to be a very popular way of teaching families about local marine life.
