Each week we recap all-staff communications related to DEW’s COVID-19 response from the previous week. You can access these communications in full on the COVID-19 page (internal access only) of the DEW Staff Hub.

CE News – 10 July – Looking beyond July

In the latest CE News, the Chief Executive advised that DEW will commence a staged, managed return to worksites at the end of July, pending any change in relevant government advice.

In the first stage of this return to worksites, DEW will aim to have no more than 50 per cent of staff onsite at any given time. How many staff will return at each subsequent stage, and how long each stage will last, will depend on how the COVID-19 situation evolves.  This does not mean, however, that 50 per cent of every team will return to their regular worksite.  In some teams and work units, the majority of staff may continue to work from home.

DEW’s business is diverse and each area has different business needs. In accordance with this reality, leaders are working to identify where each staff member will work, either at home or at a worksite, during this first stage. There is much to consider, including COVID-19 restrictions, staff wellbeing, safety and personal circumstances, business and customer needs, and business continuity planning. As part of this work, Managers will discuss with staff how they are feeling about their current arrangements, and any individual circumstances that need to be considered.

• A reminder to notify your manager immediately if you:

o have come into close contact with someone who has confirmed COVID-19, or

o are being tested for COVID-19, or

o have been confirmed as having COVID-19.

Notifying in HIRM is critical to DEW being able to live-monitor and respond to instances of DEW employees contracting COVID-19. This will ensure that appropriate and immediate control measures can be put in place to protect staff and the community.
