Co-management of national parks with traditional owners

Some parks are co-managed by Aboriginal groups and the state government. Co-management of national parks combines Aboriginal knowledge with western park management.

There are now many co-management agreements in place in national parks. The Strong People, Strong Country brochure tells the story of co-management in the voices of the Aboriginal traditional owners and the staff who work alongside them.

For more information visit the Co-management of national parks with traditional owner’s page on the Department for Environment and Water’s website or watch the video below. Or to find out more about Aboriginal culture and heritage in national parks.
