Deep Creek Conservation Park - Park of the month March 2018

You're invited to celebrate Deep Creek Conservation Park as park of the month in March.  Enjoy a guided walk with a ranger or take-a-hike with the Friends of the Heysen Trail.  Connect yourself with nature with the unique experience of 'Yoga in the Forest' or learn about the mammals and ecology of this beautiful park.   

What’s on

Ranger guided walk

Date: Sunday 4th March
Time: 10am - 2pm

Join Senior Ranger Simon Oster for an introduction to bushwalking in Deep Creek Conservation Park and the Heysen Trail. This walk is aimed at novice walkers who are interested in learning to plan for a bushwalk, including basic map reading, safety and preparation.

Meeting point: Cobbler Hill Campground, Blowhole Beach Road, Delamere.

Yoga in the forest

Date: Sunday 11th March
Time: 9:30am - 10:30am and 11am - 12pm

Relax, restore and rejuvenate in nature with yoga in the forest. What better place to immerse yourself than in the beautiful surrounding of the Stringybark forest of Deep Creek. The yoga session will be run by qualified yoga instructor Noeline Overall.

Friends of the Heysen Trail guided walk

Date: Sunday 25th March
Time: 9:45am - 1pm

Join the Friends of the Heysen Trail on this free guided walk of the Aaron Creek Circuit, one of the park's hidden gems. The hike takes in views from Goondooloo Ridge then ascends to Eagle Waterhole before circling back up to the picnic area.

Meeting point: Aaron Creek Picnic Area, Blowhole Beach Road, Delamere.

Art in the Park

Date and time:
Sunday 25th March 11:30am – 2:30pm
Wednesday 28th March 11:30am - 2:30pm

Here’s your chance to learn how to draw from nature with a local artist. Botanical illustrator Gilbert Dashorst will guide you through how to produce a piece of artwork that you can frame and hang on your wall. Using pencils, you can choose to draw either a plant, a view of the park or an interesting object you may find such as a bone, a rock or an old fence post.  

The event is suitable for ages 15 and above.

Mammals and ecology of Deep Creek

Date: Tuesday 27th March
Time: 10am - 12pm

Join District Ecologist Elisa Sparrow for an informative walk and talk about the mammals of Deep Creek and their habit.
