Experience the magic of Coorong National Park this November
Coorong National Park

Coorong National Park protects a vast wetland of international importance and the fragile dune systems of the Younghusband Peninsula. It’s where Australia’s largest river system, the Murray-Darling, flows out to the Southern Ocean and is home to more than 200 species of birds, as well as many migratory birds that arrive each summer.

There is something for all ages and interests in the Coorong. The serenity, the sheer diversity, and its proximity to Adelaide, only 200 kilometres from the city centre, make it an immensely popular park.

The park’s ecosystem not only serves as a breeding area for birds, but also for many marine species that breed in the calm waters of the Coorong.

Visitors come for bird watching, boating, kayaking, fishing, camping, walking, four-wheel driving and European and cultural history.

The Coorong is a birdwatchers’ paradise, with more than 200 species of birds recorded in the park, including a few rare species.

Many different water birds visit the wetland, particularly in summer and the park is an internationally renowned breeding area for the Australian pelican and a refuge for ducks, swans, cormorants, terns, grebes and numerous species of migratory birds.

A jam-packed program of events, activities and special offers has been organised throughout the month for the public to enjoy and discover more about the park. With so many to choose from, there’s sure to be something for everyone. Events and special offers include:
