Date posted: 21 Apr. 2020

A prescribed burn is planned in Ngarkat Conservation Park on Tuesday 21 April weather conditions permitting.

  • The prescribed burn will start at 12.00pm on Tuesday 21 April2020 and should be complete by 5:00pm that day.
  • The burn will impact an estimated 590 hectares of land on the northern boundary of Ngarkat Conservation Park and on an adjacent private property.
  • This is a landscape protection burn which will break up continuous fuel in the northern part of the park known as Day Block.

The burn will be carried out by the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS). A crew will remain on site until it is safe to leave.

The objective of this burn is to reduce fuels in the area to prevent the spread of bushfire. It is part of a statewide program of prescribed burning planned to protect communities and assets at risk.

Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
