Autumn Colours at Mount Lofty

Every year, as the leaves turn in autumn, Mount Lofty Botanic Garden's cool-climate trees transform into a panorama of scarlets, yellows and bronzes, attracting people from all over!

While it's impossible to predict when the colours will look their best (inclement weather can drastically affect how long the leaves hang around for), between Easter and Mother's Day is the safest bet to see the Garden in its autumn prime.

To add to the spectacle, various activities will be on offer through this period.

Live music

The Band of SA Police will perform a free concert on Saturday 21 April from 12-2pm in the Arboretum, near the Lower Car Park (enter off Lampert Road).

Plant Sale

Take a piece of the Botanic Gardens home with you via the Friends Growing Group Plant Sale on Saturday 21 April from 10:30am to 4.30pm and Sunday 22 April from 10:30am to 2:30pm (weather permitting).

The Sale will take place in the Garden's Lower Car Park.

The plants are collected from our three Botanic Gardens (Adelaide, Mount Lofty and Wittunga) and are grown at Mount Lofty's Nursery by the Friends Growing Group.

Visit the Friends of the Botanic Gardens website for a full list of the plants on sale.

Pop-up cafe

Uraidla's The Owl & The Elephant café will be set up in the Chris Steele Scott Pavilion each weekend from March, selling coffee, cakes, water and soft drinks.

While some drinks will be on sale, drinking water isn't available at the Garden, so we recommend you bring enough with your for your visit.

Locapops

Stirling-based Locapops will be selling organic local fruit ice-blocks for $5 each in the Arboretum from 11am to 3pm.
