Smoke visible in Adelaide Hills

Date posted: 09 May 2017

Smoke will be visible from weed pile burns at Belair National Park and Greenhill Recreation Park on Wednesday 10 May 2017, weather conditions permitting.
  • The weed pile burns will start around 9:30am and should finish by 4pm.
  • Sir Edwin Avenue in Belair National Park will be impacted by smoke.
  • Smoke may be visible from both parks.
Fire crew from the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (DEWNR) are burning weed piles. The crew will remain on site until it is safe to leave.
The objective of burning the weed piles is to reduce fuel loads in the reserves. The weeds have been cleared and piled up over summer as part of park-wide weed management and fuel reduction programs.
North-westerly winds should prevent impact on roads. Burning will only be carried out if deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.

A list of planned prescribed burns is available on the DEWNR website.
