Brookfield Conservation Park and the Scientific Research Camp

    Overview

Conservation Volunteers logoBrookfield Conservation Park is a National Parks & Wildlife park managed by Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA). It is situated in the Riverland region of South Australia, in typical 'Mallee' country. It is home to both flora and fauna threatened species. CVA undertakes a range of volunteer activities both in the park and in the surrounding area, with a focus on research of threatened species, including the Southern hairy-nosed Wombat and their habitat. Baseline data collection is one of the main priorities. CVA will be instrumental in delivering cutting edge science by assisting scientists in the long-term monitoring of animals to try to better understand how they will respond to climate change and ultimately how to better manage their populations.

CVA will endeavor to minimise energy, water use and footprint on the park.

CVA encourages approved research and field trips to occur at Brookfield Conservation Park.

The following information is provided for all people undertaking approved research & projects at Brookfield Conservation Park and/or who are using the accommodation facilities at the Research Camp

To ensure that your stay has minimal impact on the environment, your cooperation is sought in the following areas.

Planning to do research at Brookfield Conservation Park?

All research at BCP must have CVA approval. Contact CVA to discuss the requirements necessary. Approval must be sought at least 14 days prior to any activity at the park.

CVA requires all research results to be provided for data management.

    Access to Park

Any member of the public can have daily access to the public section of Brookfield Conservation Park. This includes the Picnic area and Three Habitat Walk.

No camping is permitted within the park unless prior approval has been arranged with CVA and then only in the Scientific Research Camp.

Access to all other areas within the park requires prior approval. CVA needs to know where you plan to do your research and they may instruct you to avoid certain areas.
