Park of the month - September 2017

Nature Play SA and National Parks SA have joined together to provide a range of fun and free events to be held at various locations within the iconic Morialta Conservation Park throughout the month of September. With the opening of a huge new nature play space for the kids, rock climbing, guided ranger walks and more – there is something for everyone!

Friends of Black Hill and Morialta Conservation Park working bees

Date: Sunday 3 September

Give back to this beautiful park, join the Friends of Morialta for a fun and active working bee at the Wildflower Gardens, First Falls, Olive Hill or Fourth Creek.

Ranger guided walk

Date: Wednesday 6 September

Hike to Deep View lookout with the rangers who will share their in-depth knowledge about the park with you. Friends of Black Hill and Morialta will also join the walk and talk about the work they do. This is a moderate 3km grade walk and approx. 300 meters of ascent.

Discovery days

Date: Saturday 9 September, 10am – 3pm
Date: Sunday 24 September, 10am – 3pm

Come and explore the new play space at Morialta and join in some of the ‘pop up’ activities in the park. Take part in a Junior Ranger challenge, decorate a boomerang at the Kaurna stand, visit the Nature Play tent, look for bugs in the creek or have a go on the slackline.

No bookings required, just turn up and enjoy the day!

Come and try climb and abseil days

Date: Sunday 10 September

Come and join the qualified climbing instructors from Outgrow on a family adventure climb and abseil at Morialta Conservation Park. No climbing experience is required and all safety equipment and tuition will be provided on the day. The sessions are open to children aged 8 and above.

Bushcare’s major day out hosted by Friends of Black Hill and Morialta Conservation Park

Date: Sunday 17 September

Join the friends group to help restore this important frog habitat site. There will a guided walk and talks along with morning tea and a sausage sizzle.

Friends of the Heysen Trail walk

Date: Sunday 17 September

Join the Friends of the Heysen Trail on a walk through Morialta Conservation Park. During the walk, the friends of group will share their in-depth knowledge of the park with you.  

Ranger guided night walk

Date: Wednesday 20 September

Experience the ‘dark side’ of Morialta and join the rangers on a guided night walk. Discover what comes out to play once the sun goes down. This is an easy grade walk and suitable for children 7 and over.

Bookings are necessary as places are limited.
