Parks and gardens at your fingertips
Date posted: 15 April 2013
Smart phone users can now plan their trips to Adelaide Botanic Garden and many of SA’s National Parks on the move thanks to the My Parx app.
The app, which is available on iphone and Android, provides free access to quality information direct to your phone.
My Parx users who search for Adelaide Botanic Garden can find all the information they need to enjoy, explore and learn about the Garden. This includes a map, opening hours and information about facilities and free guided walks
The Botanic Garden section also offers two interactive tours for users. The first is "How botanic gardens changed the world", which highlights areas of historical scientific significance around the Garden. Complete with music, historical facts and interviews with horticulture staff, the tour truly demonstrates the historical importance of botanic gardens.
The second tour is the “Rainforest Audio Trail” for the Bicentennial Conservatory, which provides information on the significant plants within the sub-tropical greenhouse.
There are plans to extend My Parx to both Mount Lofty and Wittunga Botanic Gardens in the near future.
South Australia has 20 parks on My Parx, with information including directions, park descriptions, park maps, opening hours and icons showing the facilities at each park.
Featured parks include Flinders Ranges National Park, Cleland Wildlife Park, Seal Bay Conservation Park, Flinders Chase National Park, Innes National Park, Coffin Bay National Park, Deep Creek Conservation Park, Murray River National Park and Belair National Park.
