Lake Eyre National Park - current status 2013
As of 20 May 2013
After an unprecedented flooding of Lake Eyre for four years in a row from 2009 - 2012, the lake surface is dry.
There is a light brown stain where recent minor water has dissolved salt, but the lake has no water on it. There is some local rain predicted on 21 and 22 May in Outback SA and although this may put some rain directly onto the lake, it will be very short lived.
Even though Lake Eyre is dry, the best way to see the enormity of Lake Eyre is from the air. A number of tour operators offer ground and/or flight tours.
