Lake Gilles Conservation Park

Lake Gilles Conservation Park is made up of sparse and semi-arid mallee landscape. The saline lake surrounded by low sandy rises, gypsum dunes and isolated stony hills provide a peaceful environment to watch the park's birdlife.

The Eyre Highway passes through the park with 2WD vehicle access to the lake, while the northern area adjacent to Lake Gilles is accessible only by 4WD.

Location

Lake Gilles Conservation Park is located 100km south west of Port Augusta. Access is via Eyre Highway.

Opening times

Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Fire information

Wood fires and solid fuel fires are prohibited from 1 November 2015 to 15 April 2016. 

Gas fires are permitted other than on days of total fire ban.
