Belair National Park

Set within beautiful natural bushland and featuring numerous picnic areas, tennis courts and an array of walking trails, Belair National Park is an ideal place to get active outdoors.

The park was the first to be dedicated in South Australia and is home to some of the Adelaide Hills significant heritage attractions, including Old Government House and the State Flora Nursery.

Approximately 250,000 visitors enjoy Belair each year. The park sits within the Mount Lofty Ranges which is regarded as one of Australia's 15 biodiversity hotspots, and remains one of the few relatively undisturbed areas of native vegetation in the region, making it an important refuge for native animals.

The park has recently been upgraded with significant improvements to the park's picnic and visitor facilities.

You can walk your dog in this park providing it remains under your control on a lead.

Location

Belair National Park is located 13km south east of Adelaide. Access is via Upper Sturt Road, Belair.

Public transport to this park from Adelaide CBD is available.

Opening Hours

8am to sunset all year round except Christmas Day.

The park information office is open from 8.30am-4.30pm Monday to Friday and 9am-4.30pm on weekends and public holidays.

During the cooler months (1 April to 30 September) the office is open from 8.30am-4.30pm Monday to Friday and 9-5pm on weekends.

Old Government House buildings are open from 1pm-4pm on Sunday and public holidays only.

The State Flora Nursery is open from 9am-5pm on weekdays and 10am-5pm on weekends and public holidays. The nursery is closed Good Friday and Christmas Day.

Important Information

This park may be closed on days of declared Total Fire Ban for the Mount Lofty Ranges. If the park remains open on a Fire Ban Day, only designated fixed gas barbecues are permitted.

All wood fires or solid fuel fires are prohibited throughout the year. Gas fires are permitted in designated areas only, other than on days of Total Fire Ban.
