Databases
South Australian Heritage Places Database
The Department of Planning and Local Government's Heritage Places Database is an online database of heritage places in South Australia. The database includes information and location maps of the state's significant historic places.
The Heritage Places Database provides:
- data on state heritage places, local heritage places and contributory items, including mapping capability
- links to Commonwealth websites to give access to South Australian places on the world, national and Commonwealth Heritage Lists
- easy searching for information by suburb, council area, ID numbers and dates of listing (local heritage places and contributory items)
- for export into MS Excel formats or, in the case of Development Plan lists, into MS Word.
A Heritage Places Map link is also available which allows searching for places within heritage areas (ie state heritage areas, historic conservation zones and historic policy areas).

The Australian Heritage Places Inventory is a national database and currently includes the following fields on South Australian state heritage places:
- South Australian Heritage Register file number
- name of the place
- address
- local government area.
The Inventory also includes details of local heritage places.
