Working Groups

SICOM has, at any one time, a number of Working Groups looking at specific technical or policy-related issues. Membership of these Working Groups is not limited to SICOM members but encompasses a wide range of spatial expertise from the private, public and education sectors.

Strategic Workforce Planning

This Working Group is soon to be established and will have the task of contributing towards the development of a whole-of-Government Strategic Workforce Requirements Plan. This will be done in conjunction with Spatial Education Australia and GSEC.

Standards

This Working Group is soon to be established and will look at the adoption and promulgation of existing standards and the development of new spatial data standards, where appropriate.

Maintenance of Key Data Sets

This Working Group is soon to be established and will identify key spatial Data Sets that do not currently have a clearly defined custodian. The Working Goup will recommend to the appropriate forum strategies for the assignment of custodial responsibilities for these data sets.
