Data sources

Image Data supplies satellite imagery covering all of Australia and the rest of the world for Australian customers. Imagery is available from Australian, United States, Thai and European data archives or as a future acquisition programming request for your area of interest.

Image Data are distributors of the following satellite data:

• Landsat (new window): Enhanced Thematic Mapper (ETM+), Thematic Mapper (TM), MultiSpectral Scanner (MSS).
• Terra/Aqua (new window): Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS).
• NOAA (new window): Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR).
• ERS (new window): C-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR).
• JERS (new window): L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR).

Landsat digital imagery is also available from the Image Data archives at substantial discounts. Image Data provides free information and advice on remote sensing and satellite status updates.

Image Data also offers advice and purchase information on satellite imagery from other sources:

• SPOT (new window): Panchromatic (pan), Multispectral (XS), Multispectral (XI) and Vegetation (VGT).
• Terra (new window): Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER).

Satellite imagery supply formats

Digital imagery is available in:

• Fast-L7A - Landsat ETM+
• ACRES/CCRS - Landsat TM, MSS
• HDF - Landsat ETM+, MODIS, AVHRR
• Conversions into other formats (e.g., BIL) available at cost of processing and media.

Media available

Digital imagery is available on:

• CD-ROM
• DVD-ROM
• Online Delivery via FTP

Data can be converted to BIL format and transferred by FTP if required at cost of processing.

Archive digital data

Image Data archive Landsat, MODIS and AVHRR digital data. Data can be supplied in a variety of image processing formats including:

• ERMapper (.ers, .bil)
• ArcView/ArcGIS/ArcINFO (.hdr, .bil)
• GeoTIFF (.tif/tfw)
• Terrascan (.tsw)

Digital data from the Image Data archive is also available on CD or DVD. Other formats are also available by negotiation, please email remote_sensing@saugov.sa.gov.au for more information.

Hardcopy

Satellite image data and digital orthophotography are also available as plotted hardcopy products.
