Community participation

The Basin Community Committee was established by the Murray-Darling Basin Authority to report on emerging community concerns and issues around Basin Plan implementation. 

Community involvement will be a key element of the development of Basin Plan compliant water resource plans. This will occur through water allocation planning processes undertaken by the SA Murray-Darling Basin Natural Resources Management Board and informed by groups such as the community-based River Murray Advisory Committee (RMAC). 

Communities can also become involved in the planning and management of environmental water, including the development of long-term environmental watering plans for the state. 

A Water Recovery Advisory Forum, involving industry stakeholders has been established to provide advice on development of strategic water recovery projects
