Collection of native seeds and fruits
A permit is required to collect native plant material from public land. Native plant material includes flowers, seeds, leaves, cuttings, and any other part of the plant.
There are many reasons why native plant materials are collected, including:
- revegetation projects
- establishing seed banks
- propagation of plants for nursery sale
- bush food.
There are five permit categories for collecting native plants:
- bush food collection
- Trees for Life (TFL) members, apply directly to Trees for Life
- individual, community group, commercial or botanic garden collection
- 'class A' collection
- other collection of native plant material.
