The grey corrugated iron building, with a lower brick section 'disappearing' below street level, is a reminder of an aspect of Port Adelaide's unique character that was created by the gradual build up of street and allotment levels between the 1840s and 1870s -  note also the old stone warehouse, which is a typical feature of Port Adelaide State Heritage Area
