Visiting Burra State Heritage Area
|
|
| Lookout Burra Mines Historic Site |
Burra is a leisurely two hours drive north of Adelaide and is an
ideal destination for day trips or weekend getaways. It is an important
commercial and residential centre in the State's rural north, but
is also recognised as one of South Australia's most exciting tourist
destinations. Many accommodation options are available, including
heritage B&B, farmstay and a caravan park.
Burra's unique Heritage Passport is an 11-kilometre drive
and walk trail that allows access to eight locked sites around the
town, mines and smelts areas. The passport key and a comprehensive
booklet, providing details of 65 sites around the town, are available
from the Burra
Visitor Centre.
