A Public Access Route, about one and a half kilometres long, has
been established off the Oodnadatta to Arckaringa Road. This track
ends at a parking area, from which a 20-30 minute walking trail
leads up Mt Arckaringa, providing spectacular views across the surrounding
Breakaway Country and down into the Arckaringa Creek channels. For
their own safety, and to protect this fragile environment, walkers
must keep to the designated track.
Camping within the State Heritage Area boundary is not permitted,
but accommodation (93Kb
PDF) facilities are available at nearby Arckaringa Homestead.
These include a camping area, basic cabin facilities, toilets and
showers.
