Grants
To help maintain and conserve our state's heritage, there are various funding programs available. State, federal and local governments provide grants to owners of heritage places.
Federal funding to protect Australia's historic places
National Historic Sites is a federally funded program that provides $4.4 million each year to owners and managers of nationally significant historic sites.
Places must be listed on the National Heritage List or are being actively considered for listing on the National Heritage List; or the Commonwealth Heritage List or a State list.
South Australian Heritage Fund Grants
DENR administers the South Australian Heritage Fund. Grants from the South Australian Heritage Fund will be made available for projects across the state to repair and restore significant state heritage places.
Grants provide the funding towards:
- Heritage Works Plans that contain a Statement of Heritage Value, property specific policy guidelines and a schedule of works for a three-five year period.
- Conservation Management Plans that establish the cultural significance of a place and outline how it should be conserved and maintained into the future
- Reports, studies and professional project documentation such as measured surveys, dilapidation surveys or future use studies that advance the care and management of a heritage place
- Essential conservation work to prevent deterioration of significant fabric.
Applications for the 2012-2013 South Australian Heritage Fund Grant Program are now open.
- South Australian Heritage Fund Grants information leaflet (65kb pdf)
- South Australian Heritage Fund Grants application form (46kb pdf).
Applications close 5.00pm Friday 23 March 2012. Late applications will not be accepted.
All applicants will be notified of the grant assessment outcome in June 2012. Successful applicants can commence their projects in July 2012 and must complete them by 31 May 2013.
